May Showers

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May showers bring?

It seems like forever since we could get out on the water. It has been raining for like a year and a half!  It is looking like rain until Sunday and then a long 10 day run of nice weather leading up until Memorial Day. If you are looking for something to do and considering giving kayaking a try, Mike might be inclined to head up a guided river tour that day.

Not really much to blog about, just wanted to get on here and be mad at the sky gods for sending so much wet stuff down this week... see you soon.

Sit in, sit on, weight limits.... I'm scared!!!

We have been getting calls from people who are extremely curious about going kayaking, but also extremely nervous.I am publishing a weight chart to help choose your vessel.
We have a little bit of each kind of kayak. My favorites are the sit ins. They have the perfect balance of stability and maneuverability. Don't push the weight limit!

Some ships in our fleet are unsinkable... others require a bit of experience and know how.

If you are nervous about going out join us on one of our guided tours w Mike P. They happen sporadically, but if you get jammed up, it's nice to have Mike there to guide you thru any problems.

This Sunday we are going on a Mother's Day Float at 1:30. It's a 2 hour trip and all vessels are $30/person. Meet at 21 NW Front St to sign up and we launch at the dock right down the street.

Here is the weight chart:

Big Bird - 475lb
Cpt Sunshine - 450lb
Tin Man - 650lb
Hulk, Booger, Weenie - 250lb
Capt Ahab - 800lb
The Banana - 250lb
Ms. Mauls - 260lbs
Gorelee Grrl - 400lbs
Smurf & Violet - 300lbs
Red Dragon - 300lbs
String Bean - 395lbs
Marmalade, Brightside, Crewcut - 210lb

All the boats can be found in the "FLEET" section

Great Day on the River w my Daughter!

Got the chance to take Michaela out. She loved looking for the things on the scavenger hunt/map. We pushed out right before high tide, so by the time we got to the sunken ship we could paddle over the bow... there was a crazy bird on a pier screeching at us and trying to wave us off!
The campground was getting things ready for the summer and people were out along the bank fishing.
I will probably have to start a youtube channel for all of Michaela's GoPro video from the trip!
We decided to take out the Gorelee Grrl kayak (Old Towne Loon 138) It is perfect for an adult and a kid. Incredibly stable and fast... lucky for me because Michaela didn't even want a paddle. We made the entire trip up and down the river in 2 hours. While she may had been nervous to begin with, it faded pretty quick and she was having a blast looking for turtles and other scavenger hunt items on the list.
If you are looking for a great way to spend some quality time with your family, a trip on the Mispillion with Delaware River Adventures is a great way to have some fun outdoors.
