Summer weather is finally here! I hit the river at dusk last week and thought “this should be a weekly thing!” It’s so calm and peaceful, and the return paddle into the sun as it’s going down makes for some great photo ops!
Sunday July 8th at 6pm is our first guided adventure. There is an event button on our website at www.delawareriveradventures.com. Here are some pics I took from the last sunset paddle.
I'm not a photographer, these were from my phone. I can only imagine what a real photographer could grab!

May Showers

If April showers bring May flowers, what do May showers bring?

It seems like forever since we could get out on the water. It has been raining for like a year and a half!  It is looking like rain until Sunday and then a long 10 day run of nice weather leading up until Memorial Day. If you are looking for something to do and considering giving kayaking a try, Mike might be inclined to head up a guided river tour that day.

Not really much to blog about, just wanted to get on here and be mad at the sky gods for sending so much wet stuff down this week... see you soon.

Sit in, sit on, weight limits.... I'm scared!!!

We have been getting calls from people who are extremely curious about going kayaking, but also extremely nervous.I am publishing a weight chart to help choose your vessel.
We have a little bit of each kind of kayak. My favorites are the sit ins. They have the perfect balance of stability and maneuverability. Don't push the weight limit!

Some ships in our fleet are unsinkable... others require a bit of experience and know how.

If you are nervous about going out join us on one of our guided tours w Mike P. They happen sporadically, but if you get jammed up, it's nice to have Mike there to guide you thru any problems.

This Sunday we are going on a Mother's Day Float at 1:30. It's a 2 hour trip and all vessels are $30/person. Meet at 21 NW Front St to sign up and we launch at the dock right down the street.

Here is the weight chart:

Big Bird - 475lb
Cpt Sunshine - 450lb
Tin Man - 650lb
Hulk, Booger, Weenie - 250lb
Capt Ahab - 800lb
The Banana - 250lb
Ms. Mauls - 260lbs
Gorelee Grrl - 400lbs
Smurf & Violet - 300lbs
Red Dragon - 300lbs
String Bean - 395lbs
Marmalade, Brightside, Crewcut - 210lb

All the boats can be found in the "FLEET" section

Great Day on the River w my Daughter!

Got the chance to take Michaela out. She loved looking for the things on the scavenger hunt/map. We pushed out right before high tide, so by the time we got to the sunken ship we could paddle over the bow... there was a crazy bird on a pier screeching at us and trying to wave us off!
The campground was getting things ready for the summer and people were out along the bank fishing.
I will probably have to start a youtube channel for all of Michaela's GoPro video from the trip!
We decided to take out the Gorelee Grrl kayak (Old Towne Loon 138) It is perfect for an adult and a kid. Incredibly stable and fast... lucky for me because Michaela didn't even want a paddle. We made the entire trip up and down the river in 2 hours. While she may had been nervous to begin with, it faded pretty quick and she was having a blast looking for turtles and other scavenger hunt items on the list.
If you are looking for a great way to spend some quality time with your family, a trip on the Mispillion with Delaware River Adventures is a great way to have some fun outdoors.

Caroline on the River... I mean, In The City!

Clocked in some hours on the mighty Mispillion with travel writer Caroline from www.carolineinthecityblog.com yesterday. The weather was perfect! We saw turtles and birds and vultures and visited the sunken ship and saw what looks like some kind of look out tower peeking thru the woods...!

Adventure continues soon!

Delaware Branding Company launches new venture

Delaware River Adventures to rent kayaks and canoes in Milford

March 10, 2018
This year, the owners of Delaware Branding Co. in Milford are expanding into kayak and canoe rental. After hearing the news of the city spending nearly $200,000 building a new pavilion and floating kayak ramp right down the street from her tattoo shop, Cat Perfetti, owner of Delaware Branding Company, couldn't help but ask herself where the kayaks would be coming from. After she mentioned this to her husband and co-owner/artist, Mike P, Delaware River Adventures was born.
As it turns out, Mike P had spent two summers in the ‘80s running canoes up and down the Delaware River in Pennsylvania, hauling groups for two-hour trips and overnight excursions from Port Jervis, N.Y., to Portland, N.J. "We spent the winter securing trailers and a fleet that can accommodate 20 people," he said. “The river is less than 150 yards from the front door of our shop, and I never see anyone on it. When I was growing up, I practically lived on the river. Fishing, camping for days, rafting ... just having fun with our friends."
In addition to the nearby lakes and beaches, the owners of Delaware River Adventures really look forward to bringing adventure to the Mispillion River.
Perfetti said, "Will we be doing hourly rentals for the lakes and beaches? Yes. But it's the folks that are looking to take the trip from the dock in Milford all the way to the beach we are really looking forward to get out on the river!"
Mike P said, "It's a great sense of accomplishment for people. Seeing that map and thinking 'How are we going to do that?' and seeing the anxiety on their faces. But when you meet them at the pickup, the anxiety is gone and has been replaced with achievement. I think it's exciting for all of us!"
Delaware River Adventures is located in Milford and has trips available for all skill levels.
"Just show up with your gear, we will load you up in the truck, get you started. Give us a call when you are done, and we will pick you up and get you back to the shop. It's that easy!" said Perfetti. "We are just really excited for the weather to warm up so people can paddle down the river and experience all that our great little city of Milford has here. Great food and drinks, art galleries, a playhouse ... it's a good place for a family getaway."
To book for the upcoming season, go to www.delawareriveradventures.com. For more information, contact Perfetti at Delaware Branding Company, 302-422-4538 or delawareriveradventures@gmail.com.
Summer Soon? Yes please!

As warmer weather rapidly approaches, our fleet gets hungrier for the river! We will be hitting the water this week, braving the less-than-warm temperatures with some guests eager to check out what we will have to offer.
GoPro in hand we hope to bring you some live video or at least some action shots of things to see and do while kayaking and canoeing in the nearby lakes and Mispillion River.

Stay tuned... adventure is coming to Milford!
